Weekly Health Tip

How much Physical Activity do I need?

It's warming up outside and you're ready to ramp up your exercise routine. You might be wondering how much exercise you need to reap the health benefits of a regular physical activity routine.

The CDC provides the options below for adults to meet their weekly physical activity requirements:

  • 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity each week and muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days each week. OR
  • 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity every week and muscle strengthening activities on 2 or more days each week. OR
  • An equivalent mix of moderate and vigorous-intensity aerobic activity and muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days each week.

These recommendations can sound daunting, however, it's ok to break up your activity into 10 minute doses. The important thing is you are getting in moderate or vigorous effort physical activity on most days of the week!
